A comparative analytical study of the footwork techniques used in the elite matches of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in table tennis

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze foot movements, with a special focus on comparing the distribution of foot movements between men’s and women’s players in the elite table tennis matches of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. With answers to the following questions: What are the most common foot movements used by elite men and women players in table tennis matches at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics? The descriptive approach was used, and the research sample was selected from the men's and women's quarter-final matches, and the analysis was carried out using the Kinovea program. The results resulted in a distribution of the percentages of types of foot movements and the significance of their differences between men and women
