Cognitive distortions and their relationship to the level of achievement of swimmers with disabilities

Abstract

       The research aims to identify the relationship between the level of cognitive distortions and the level of achievement of people with disabilities, The researcher used the descriptive approach due to its suitability to the nature of the research. The research community consists of swimmers with special needs from the Olympia Club in New Damietta, Mansoura Youth Center, Mansoura Sports Club, Al-Hiwar Club, and the Paralympic team. In light of the research objective and questions, the researcher reached the following conclusions:

Developing a scale for cognitive distortions among swimmers with disabilities, distributed across (5) axes: the self-blame axis, which included (9) statements; the feeling of helplessness axis, which included (8) statements; the self-esteem axis, which included (9) statements; the negative thinking axis, which included (8) statements; and the despair axis, which included (7) statements.
