Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the impact of the metacognitive learning cycle strategy for students with inspection versus scrutiny cognitive styles on the development and learning of offensive and defensive strategies in volleyball. It also aimed to identify the differences in post-test results for offensive and defensive strategies between the experimental and control groups. The experimental method with a factorial design was used, as it is one of the most suitable designs for exploring the nature of the problem, involving more than one independent variable. The research sample consisted of 62 female students, randomly selected and divided into two groups based on the cognitive test (inspection vs. scrutiny) for each group.

The study concluded that the metacognitive learning cycle strategy was effective in enhancing the experimental group. The study recommends organizing the educational content using an instructional design based on the steps of the metacognitive learning cycle, aligning with and achieving the set educational objectives.
